This can be served warm or room temperate making it the perfect appetizer, lunch or snack.
It’s super easy so make, too. I can throw this together in no time and it’s done within 30 minutes.
I’d you’re never had Stromboli before, it’s kinda like a hot Italian combo without the lettuce and tomato.
Needless to say, it’s a recipe loved by most.
That’s why I like to make it so often. It’s fast, easy and always a hit.
Even my picky kids will eat this.
It’s also a nice alternative to deli sandwiches. I like to bring these to the beach, picnics and tailgates, too.
They’re so convenient.

What dough should I use?
I often get the dough from my local pizza place. It’s $3 for an extra large pizza.
You really can’t beat that price.
If you’d just like to grab some at the supermarket, a can of Pillsbury pizza crust and it will work just fine.
Or use your own recipe, of course, if you’ve got one.
What should I serve this easy stromboli recipe with?
Stromboli is great because it can be served all on its own for as an easy snack or lunch.
If youd like a little something to go along with it, here are some great side dish ideas.
- Moms famous tortellini salad
- The best marinated tomatoes
- Garlic Parmesan fries
Easy Stromboli recipe tips
This easy Stromboli recipe is super simple to put together but here are some tips that can make it even better.
- Ask the deli attendant to slice the cold cuts thin. It will make the Stromboli easier to jelly roll.
- Get the pepperoni slices from the deli. The slices are much bigger than the smallest slices you’d normally see on pepperoni pizza.
- Make ventilation slits in the dough with a sharp knife. This will allow air to escape and stop the Stromboli from oozing the ingredients inside.
- If you’re having a hard time dealing the dough, add some egg wash to the seams before punching them together
- Besides some shaved Parmesan, feel free to add some shredded cheddar cheese to the top of the bread. It adds a nice layer of flavor and looks great, too.
Where’s the sauce for this easy Stromboli recipe?
I often get asked where the sauce is for this Stromboli recipe.
Some people like to add a layer of sauce down before the provolone cheese and that’s totally fine.
I just don’t like to do that. I find the bread doesn’t bake as well. I’d prefer to just serve the sauce on the side for dunking.
Here’s a good recipe for tomato sauce if you’d like one but jarred sauce works great here, too.
If you’d like to add a layer of tomato sauce before the meat and cheese, that would be a-okay to do.

- Deli ham sliced thin
- Deli salami sliced thin
- Deli pepperoni sliced thin
